9. There are two effects:
(i) Redshifting results in the radiation from more distant galaxies having progressively lower energy.
(ii) The finite age of the Universe means that there are no galaxies beyond a certain point, since they have not had time to form. (Though of course there is still radiation from hot gas - this is what the CMB is.)
