HRI

Before starting to analyse HRI data you should obtain a copy of the calibration report :

HRI data are sorted in an identical manner to PSPC data. The HRI has 16 pulse height channels, which give very limited energy resolution. It is not yet possible within ASTERIX to make use of this aspect of the data except to subset the data on PH channel within xrtsort.

Source spectra are significantly more peaked than background spectra and an improvement in signal to noise may result from restricting the channel range to 3-8, although the exact channel range will vary from one source to the next.
