2 EXPERT Mode

The EXPERT logical parameter enables more detailed controls over the various stages of PSS's processing. PSS remembers your setting of EXPERT from one to run to the next.

The following values are used for different PSS parameters when the default NOEXPERT mode is selected, and are offered as defaults when EXPERT is selected.

  Parameter Value Description
PSFCON Y PSF constant across field
PSFPIX 68% The value which encloses 68% of
                                the incident energy
RESCALE N Do not rescale background
EXTEN N Don't fit source extension
SAMPLE 1 Grid spacing on first pass equals
                                that of input pixels
FERL 68% Flux error confidence level
  ASYMMETRIC N Produce asymmetric errors
PERL 90% Position error confidence level
MULREJ* 1.0 Controls rejection of spurious
                                peaks in significance map. Lower
                                values permit closer sources.
