In the Gravitational Physics Group at University of Birmingham we are responding to the challenge that gravitation poses to a 21st century physicist.

The research of the Institute for Gravitational Wave Astronomy encompasses a wide spectrum of activities that revolve around gravitational-wave science. We strive to look at the Universe in a new way and to study gravity by observing the gravitational-wave sky.

The Weak Force Group aims to perform tests of gravitation and search for new particles beyond the Standard Model of Particle Physics. We are developing new technologies to enable us to perform precise experiments on Nature's weakest force.

The Gravitational Wave Group is currently searching for prospective PhD students to work on a variety of exciting projects starting with Autumn 2020.
