 lan_arch_spec
        Specification for a LAN(rates) archive type.

 Members:
        typeno          int     Flag indicating the data type to which
                                this definition belongs:
                                0 - Hiscale rates (variable)
                                1 - EPAM rates (variable)
                                2 - Hiscale PHA (fixed)
                                3 - EPAM PHA (fixed)
                                4 - Track (fixed)
                                5 - MFS (fixed)
                                6 - PSUM (fixed)
        prefix          string  The part of the filename before the date.
        suffix          string  The part of the filename after the date.
        resolution      float   The data cadence in hours.
        duration        int     The number of days data in each file
                                (maximum).
        sparse          byte    For RATE type files, a flag to
                                indicate whether the data use all 10
                                spins or only the first.
