 matrix_dataset::make_byte_matrix
        Generate a displayable matrix

 Usage:
        dmat = dsref -> make_byte_matrix(index)

 Argument:
        index   int     Which matrix to do

 Keywords:
        times   double  A named variable into which to store the start
                        and end times of the matrix.
        accum   float   A named variabel into which to store the
                        accumulation times of the matrix.
        range   float   A named variable to contain the actual
                        scaling range used.

 Notes:
        The theory overlay is not done here as it uses line plotting
        not images.
