 rate_dataset::acquire_mag_sparse
       Reads in the mag data from the file

 Call:
       code = acquire_mag(strnos)

 Return value:
       code    long    0 for failure, 1 for success

 Arguments:
        strnos  long    The list of stream indices to be read by this
                        invocation.

 Keywords
        hiscale If set, then we are reading HISCALE data
        epam    If set, then we are reading EPAM data.
