lan_idf::read

 LAN_IDF::READ
        read a LAN IDF file.

 Usage:
        idfref->read, file

 Argument:
        file    string  The name of the file to be read.

 Notes:
        The channel types, and their descriptions and sector counts
        are hard-coded in.

 History: 
        Original (uses V3.15 IDF.PRO): 22/11/99; SJT
        Search in proper directory by default: 7/12/99; SJT
        Add descriptions and sector counts: 10/12/99; SJT
        Store filename: 17/1/00; SJT
        Store energies in MeV: 24/3/00; SJT
