 comp_dyn_spect_stream::set_channel
        Set the channel for a comp dyn_spect stream

 Usage:
        rc = strref -> set_channel(species)

 Argument
        species string  The species whose spectrum is to be plotted.

 Keyword:
        null    If set, then clear the channel and return 0.
