The 9th Birmingham-Nottingham Extragalactic Workshop Substructure in Dark Matter Halos July 6-7th 2006 Final Announcement www.sr.bham.ac.uk/workshop/2006 Registration for the workshop has now closed, and a draft programme and participant list are available on the workshop web page. Please let us know immediately if you spot any problem with the information listed here. Talk lengths include time for questions: a 30min talk is 25min plus 5min questions, and a 15min talk is 12+3min. The workshop will take place in the Small Lecture Theatre (SLT) in the School of Physics and Astronomy, here on the main Edgbaston campus. The SLT is in the Poynting Building (Building 34a, Zone D), and can be accessed either directly by entering Poynting, or via Physics West (34b). Many signs will be available to guide you on the day. Directions to the School and a full campus map can be found here: http://www.ph.bham.ac.uk/about/directions.htm http://www.bham.ac.uk/page.asp?section=000100010001000200100001 If you are driving, please note that the South Car Park (closest to Physics) is partially closed, and that Friday 7th is a Degree ceremony day. Parking will therefore be difficult, especially on Friday. We therefore recommend using public transport if possible. If you need to drive and are staying at Lucas House, then please park at Lucas House (Building 67, Zone B). Failing that, try South Car Park, or North Car Park (both Zone D). We have booked accommodation for everybody who has requested a room at Lucas House in their registration email. You should have been contacted separately about this. If you have not received a separate email about accommodation, and did request a room at Lucas House, then please contact us immediately. Please note that if we have booked accommodation on your behalf, then payment is required with your workshop registration fee on the morning of July 6th. Registration will take place from 10.30am outside the Small Lecture Theatre where coffee/tea will also be served. The registration fee of 45, which covers coffee, lunches and the Balti dinner, is payable (cash or cheque) on arrival. Cheques should be made payable to the `University of Birmingham'). Apologies, we CANNOT accept credit card payments. Last minute cash point withdrawals can be made at "University Centre" which is Building 29, Zone D (follow link above) just 5 minutes walk from Physics. Some reduction for those attending for only one day will be made. A computer and projector will be available for powerpoint presentations, in addition to a normal OHP. If you prefer to travel light, please leave your laptop at home and email your powerpoint file to workshop@star.sr.bham.ac.uk by the end of Wednesday July 5th. Please note that if your presentation is in open office format, then you MUST bring your own laptop. Laptop email access will be available via ethernet connections in a dedicated room (details to follow). If you wish to take advantage of this, please email your MAC address to workshop@star.sr.bham.ac.uk or provide it at the workshop registration desk. We will also set aside three desktop machines and guest accounts in our terminal room for those without laptops. The evening meal on Thursday will be at a Balti restaurant in Selly Oak, just a short walk from Physics (vegetarian options will be available). The cost of the evening meal (including one drink), plus two lunches, is included in the registration fee. If you have any questions about these arrangements, please email or call us at workshop@star.sr.bham.ac.uk, 0121 414 7434. We look forward to welcoming you to Birmingham. Graham Smith, On behalf of the Organising Committee.
