Gravitational-wave astronomy -- assignment 2
- Problem 1:
Estimate the upper limit that could be placed on the ellipticity of a
neutron star rotating with a period of 60 Hz and located at a distance
of 2 kpc in 1 year of LIGO observation. Compare with published limits
on Crab pulsar.
- Problem 2:
Using the zero-detuning, high-power Advanced LIGO noise spectrum
, compute the distance to which an optimally located and oriented
neutron star binary could be detected with SNR=8 in one detector?
- Problem 3:
Prove the optimality of the Wiener matched filter.
