B A Carroll and D A Ostlie: An introduction to Modern Astrophysics (Benjamin Cummings, 2nd ed, 2006) The first edition (1995) is equally useful.
is a massive book (weighs 5 pounds), but is at the right level for this
module. Of course it contain a great deal more than we will cover here.
I will point out the various chapters that we will follow. The
exercises given at the end of the relevant chapters are very useful.
The book's website (click above) has very useful online resources, and
looks of typos in the printed version.
