Radial Profiling

A radial profile of a source may be produced with the iradial command. If the region of interest is contaminated by another source or intersects the window support structure, the image may be cleaned before starting the analysis. A typical procedure may be :

        icl> idisplay im1 ! Display the image
icl> iregion ! Choose the areas to set bad
icl> iexclude curr ! Set these areas bad
icl> iradial ! Produce the radial profile
        icl> isave1d im1_radp ! Save the radial profile
        icl> exit

The saved radial profile may be analysed in detail with qdp if required after using the astqdp command.

The above example uses the command driven image processing commands. The same sequence, including the export to qdp, can be performed purely within Isys.
