Research Opportunities

The Astrophysics and Space Research Group has two STFC grant funded Research Fellow positions available in the area of experimental gravitational physics.

Searching for violations of the inverse square law of gravitation at short ranges is a possible way of finding evidence for physics underlying unification of the known forces. Candidates will be expected to contribute substantially to a new programme aimed at testing gravity at the shortest ranges using cryogenic technologies.

The successful candidates will have completed or be near completion of a PhD in physics or a related subject and possess extensive experience and demonstrated competence in experimental physics, ideally including experience in precision experiments, and experience in cryogenic technologies. One post is available at a more senior level and to qualify for this position the successful candidate will be expected to take on responsibilities for management of the programme and must already be in possession of a PhD qualification.
